Bits & Pieces

Happy Friday y’all! It’s finally starting to feel like summer in Toronto (or at least very summer-adjacent). Fingers crossed the rain holds off this weekend, as I plan to spend most of it eating BBQ that other people make for me.  I’m great at salads, dips and sides (I make these for pretty much every party or potluck I attend), but it’s just better if I’m nowhere near a grill! I’m not even great with a stove. Hope your weekend is full of laughter and sunshine.

Here are some bits and pieces that made my week:

  • Oh the unbearable ennui that can be found inside a high school diary. I unearthed mine a few years ago from a box in my parents’ closet and I cringed so hard reading it. Apparently when I was a teenager I felt all.the.feelings. Now I only barely muster that kind of emotion when my coffee place runs out of cinnamon powder.
  • A song that sounds like summer to me.
  • Check out this amazing eye makeup tutorial. It almost makes me want to get over my extreme laziness when it comes to wearing makeup. I’m kind of a makeup for weddings and special occasions only person.
  • Are these the best airports in America? My favourite – Dallas, Texas – made the list. It’s just the friendliest most well organized airport I’ve ever been in. I also have a soft spot for the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina where I had a brief layover coming home from San Francisco last fall. They have a piano player in the food court, swoon!

Bits & Pieces

Happy merry (almost) Christmahanakwanzika or whatever!

I never feel like it’s truly the holiday season until I’ve wandered the Distillery Christmas market in Toronto with a hot chocolate and then promptly shoved a churro (or two) in my mouth. Hey, everyone has their own traditions, and mine happened this week so I’m all in baby. My Songza Christmas playlist is going at work and I had a candy cane for breakfast. Heaven.

Wishing you a very happy holiday season, and I’ll be back to posting in the new year.

Here are some bits and pieces that made my week.

  • Start every day psyched (without the use of methamphetamines). Lately I’ve been blasting Taylor Swift’s 1989 album and indulging in a solo kitchen dance party to chase away the dark morning winter blahs. It totally works.

Bits & Pieces

Yo yo yo,

This has felt like the longest week ever – anyone else? And I was only in the office for three days. I guess that’s what happens when you get back from an amazing vacation (Curacao post coming soon!) and experience withdrawal from sunshine and pina coladas and unlimited bacon.

Sigh.

Anyhoodle – hope y’all have a great weekend. I’m looking forward to the Super Bowl on Sunday. Not so much for the football aspect, but for the nachos and beer that usually accompany it, natch. I also enjoy randomly shouting “PENETRATE THE BLITZ!” at various points throughout the game, but I don’t know what it means.

Here are some bits and pieces that made my week:

  • I love Mumford & Sons so hard. I also crush on Taylor Swift. So Taylor singing ‘White Blank Page’ ?- all over it.
  • This video completely blew me away – and it was filmed in a Toronto bookstore called Type Books!
  • I would definitely consider extending my next trip to NYC a little to take advantage of one of these weekend getaways.
  • How to look cute in the cold. The temps in Toronto have been somewhat mild of late (booyah), so I’ve been getting by with my spring coat, a scarf, and my Hunter rain boots. But I have a feeling that by next week I’ll be burrowing back into my trusty 3-year-old Aritzia parka. Blerg.
  • I’ve been loving the “Shit ‘whoevers‘ Say” videos popping up all over the interweb. This one might be my favourite. I highly doubt anyone would be interested in a ‘Shit law Firm Marketers Say’ video but that won’t stop me from making one. Consider yourself warned.
  • I’d literally shit myself. But damn, these are some amazing pictures.
  • Dr. Who – 47 years in 6 minutes. The nerd in me squeed a little. Also, this was a helpful catch-up given that I’ve only very recently gotten into Dr. Who (solely due to Matt Smith) but have seen some David Tennant episodes too that I liked.
  • I don’t have an iPhone (gasp!) but I can completely appreciate the hilarity of auto correct. This site is my favourite new time waster.
  • Oooh tea party!
  • Yup, it’s a tumblr featuring a dog with food on its head. Simple. Hilarious. And I think it’s kind of genius.

Bits & Pieces

Hiya,

It’s Friday the 13th! I’ve always had really good luck on Friday the 13th!

My weekend plans including seeing a friend’s band, braving the Costco to stock up on some essentials (taquitos and cashews), buying something to ease the pain of sunburns in anticipation of my upcoming trip to Curacao,  catching up on Coronation Street over pints at Crooked Star, and maybe some Golden Globes watching.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Here are some bits & pieces that made my week:
